Crapiata is a centuries-old recipe, linked to the farming tradition of Matera. It is a recipe that reflects the love that the people from Matera have towards their own land and that tells the habits of the "neighborhood". In order to celebrate the abundance of the year, all the women of the neighborhood carried a handful of wheat and legumes, the real wealth of Matera families of little more than half a century ago. All the vegetables were then cooked in a large pot and served to all the inhabitants of the neighborhood. It was a long awaited and heartfelt occasion also because the legume soup was accompanied by excellent red wine.
